SKIBO CASTLE
The Carnegie Club at
Skibo Castle is a
private residential and
sporting club with an
international membership
limited by invitation.
Skibo Castle was largely
the creation of Steel
King and philanthropist
Andrew Carnegie, who
purchased the castle and
estate in 1898. To
Carnegie, Skibo was a
family home, a place to
entertain the great and
the good of his day and
a haven of peace and
tranquillity in which to
think about the world
and how his money could
do the most good.
The Carnegie Club today
recreates the Skibo of
Carnegie’s day. The Club
is home to members from
over 31 countries who
come to Skibo to relax,
enjoying the luxurious
accommodation, wonderful
activities and unique
house-party atmosphere.
Members and guests stay
either in the Castle or
in one of the Victorian
Lodges that dot the
grounds but all meals
are eaten in the Castle
or Golf House. Top of
the activities list is
golf – either on our 18-
hole championship
Carnegie Links or on the
members-only 9-hole
parkland Monks’ Walk.
Other activities include
salmon and trout
fishing, falconry, horse
riding, off-road
driving, swimming, a
Clarins spa, walking,
mountain biking and
tennis.
Non-members can only
stay at the Castle once –
a return being
dependent on membership
which is by invitation,
all applications being
placed before the
Committee.
Members include Madonna
and Guy Ritchie, Michael
and Catherine Douglas,
Nick Faldo and Ernie
Els. Visit The Carnegie
Club at Skibo Castle and
share some of their –
and Andrew Carnegie’s -
Heaven on Earth”!
